Hick-Hop Radio
Hick*Hop*Radio \`hik-hop-ray-d-oh\ -noun: A talk radio pilot for satellite or terrestrial radio that merges hip hop and southern rock culture. Hick-Hop Radio, hosted by Dustin Chafin and Donnell Rawlings, is an edgy comedy talk show featuring a variety of programming, including interviews, comedy sketches and music parodies.
Chafin and Rawlings discuss topics relating to their southern and city upbringings and their interesting journeys thru life. Topics will include but are not limited to: Donnell’s service in the US Military, his strong roots in the black community and his experiences as an outspoken radio personality; Dustin’s upbringing in a Texas trailer park, his former service in the priesthood and his maternal family of Native Americans versus his paternal relatives in the Klu Klux Klan. From these two juxtaposed point of views great conversations, dialogues and comedy is born.
Donnell and Dustin bring an honesty to talk radio that blends southern and city styles. This is not your typical Hip- Hop show or Hillbilly comedy hour; this is Hick-Hop. This is a mix of comedic minds, a fusion of comedy and discussion, never before heard and experienced! Two successful and seasoned comedians will discuss political and the social issues of the day, pop culture and music. They will also conduct interviews with politicians, artists, family and regular folk that have something to say. Hick-Hop radio will attract Howard Stern, Opie and Anthony listeners as well as Ed Lover and Bob and Tom fans alike. Hick-Hop proves you can’t put comedy types in a box. Donnell Rawlings: Has been featured on Chappelle’s Show, HBO’s The Wire, HBO’s Bad Boys of Comedy and BET Comic View, Howard Stern and was the former morning co-host on 105.1 FM.
Dustin Chafin: Has been featured on Showtime’s White Boyz in the Hood, toured internationally as an USO comedian for the troops, was a regular co-host guest on the PJ Walsh Show on Blue Collar Radio and has been a sit in host for Pete Dominick’s show on 104 Raw Dog on Sirius XM radio. Chafin is currently a comedy writer for United Stations Radio Network in NYC.
Sergio Ventura: Hick-Hop’s audio engineer and producer. He is currently working on Bloomberg’s Negocios and USRN’s Sabado Picante Radio Show, which currently airs on WQHT NY Hot 97. He strives for the best sound quality for each show and has a high standard for final product.
